This is a traditional English treat - a moist and rich steamed fruit pudding. We usually try to make these at the start of the year to give them plenty of time to mature before eating, and if you make more than you can eat in one Christmas they will comfortably keep until the next!

Hi Ian - it's always good to have an old family recipe and it's great you and the family are still utilising it for Christmas here in Canada ... good time to 'flood' the Christmas aroma around the house ... sitting in thick mist and rain as I am ... and presumably you are - we need it I know - so the earth will be pleased.
